Protect Your Glow!

We know that our skin benefits from a good night’s rest, but did you know we need to protect our skin whilst we sleep?

Our skin undergoes a natural exfoliation process while we sleep, as it repairs and regenerates new skin cells. By following our simple tips we can protect this natural process and wake up glowing:

Sleep more
If you ever need more reasons to sleep in, than a glowing complexion should be it. We need at least 7 hours of sleep a night to ensure our body can repair and restore itself for a new day.

Skin care
Following a daily skin care routine especially at night can further assist the natural exfoliation process. Cleansing helps remove makeup, dirt, oil and pollution that builds up on the skin and moisturising helps rehydrate the skin to replace any moisture lost during the day. So always remember to cleanse, tone and moisturise before bed.

Tie up your hair
Tie your hair into a loose ponytail before going bed to keep hair away from your face during your sleep. This will ensure the hair’s natural oils from rubbing onto the skin and causing acne breakouts.

Silk pillowcases
If you tend to toss and turn in your sleep it may be worth investing in silk pillowcases. Cotton pillowcases may be too harsh on the skin and the constant rubbing creates creases on the face and overtime this can result in permanent wrinkles.

Consume more water
We are made up of 60% water and our skin happens to be the largest organ of our body so you can probably guess how important water is to achieve a healthy glow and avoid rough and pasty skin. By drinking at least 2 litres of water and eating water-rich fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, this will help balance not only your body’s but your skin’s moisture levels while you sleep.

Now that you are armed with a new bedtime ritual, get ready for smoother more radiant skin every morning!
