Understanding your Skin Types characteristics is really important in making the right decisions when selecting skin care products to maintain healthy and good looking skin.
Knowing what skin type you have and applying the proper products, will not only help you achieve the best results for your skin but at the same time you’ll save a lot of money.
In addition, your skin type can change over time.
Teenagers tend to have oily skin but when they become older, it becomes drier.
There are several factors that can affect your skin type: Genes, Hormones, Diet, Environment and Stress Levels just to name a few.
The purpose the Skin Types is to help you better understand what to look for and how to look after your skin type whichever it may be.
There are 5 basic skin types.
1. Normal Skin Type
- Looks clear and clean
- This is the least problematic skin type.
- Few imperfections
- Healthy complexion
2. Dry Skin Type
- Fine pores
- Fine wrinkles
- Prone to irritation
- Feels tight
3. Oily Skin Type
- Skin is shiny
- Has enlarged pores
- Pimples, blackheads and/or blemishes are visible
- Looks greasy
4. Combination Skin Type
- Dry or normal in other areas and oily in others (forehead, nose and chin)
- Blackheads are visible
- Shiny skin especially on the oily part of the face
5. Sensitive Skin Type
- Usually very dry
- Feels tight
- Prone to redness
- It can also be itchy
- The most delicate of all skin types
